The discovery of Japanese cuisine is an important aspect when exploring the country, as it is both delicious and unique to the archipelago: it would be a shame to taste it.

Nonetheless, it is not the easiest country to travel in for anyone having a strict gluten-free diet. Many individuals with celiac disease and gluten intolerance report having a challenging culinary experience. Their feedback and testimonies have greatly helped me in preparing for my two trips to Japan: the first in October 2023 and the second in July 2024.

This preparation before any trip in Japan is, in my opinion, essential to fully enjoy your stay there. I’m choosing my words carefully when saying this as I usually do not belong to those who meticulously plan their trips because I love discovering and being surprise when arriving in a new country.
Knowing what to eat, what to avoid, the addresses, how to communicate… are the kind of things I learned before leaving and that were of great help to me.
